Student/Parent Assurances

This information provides a guide to the King Collegiate campus by outlining what students and parents acknowledge when they submit an application for admission.

Student Assurances      

  • I am aware that I have to be fully committed to attending King Collegiate Academy 9th - 12th grade. I will communicate with teachers and administration if I am struggling and will follow all interventions to help me succeed. If at the end of the first year I feel that I am unable to continue, I will meet with the school to discuss options.
  • I will go to school on time every day unless I am seriously ill and I will remain at school until dismissal each day.

  • I will review the syllabus and course website for each high school and college class.  I will refer to it regularly as a guide for the work that I must complete for each course.
  • I will complete and submit all required coursework, including homework, on time.
  • I will review my grades in both high school and college classes at least once per week.
  • I will attend after school tutorials when required by teachers and/or administrators.
  • I will seek assistance from teachers and instructors as needed.
  • I understand that King Collegiate Academy does not participate in UIL fine arts or athletic activities, including sports, cheerleading, band, etc.  King Collegiate Academy does, however, participate in UIL academic events.
  • I will read all communication that is sent home for both students and parents.

  • I am aware that after-school employment may interfere with my success at King Collegiate Academy. 

  • I will ensure that I will get adequate sleep each night and that I come to school prepared each day.

  • I understand that I should use the Internet for the purpose of completing school work only (please refer to the district’s Acceptable Use Policy).  Additionally, I understand that anything that I post on social media can be looked at and considered by the members of the college admission boards of the universities that I apply to. 

  • I will follow the BISD and LIT Student Codes of Conduct, the BISD Student Handbook and the KCA Student Handbook.

  • I understand that if I receive a disciplinary consequence that results in a withdrawal to BISD's Disciplinary Alternative Education Program, Pathways Learning Center, I cannot re-enroll at King Collegiate Academy and will need to enroll at my zoned campus upon completion of time at Pathways.

  • I understand that I may attend college classes as early as the fall of my freshman year and that I may be taking these classes with traditional adult college students.  I also understand that adult-like behavior will be expected of me while in class and on the LIT campus.  Additionally, I understand that I may be exposed to mature content in some of these settings.

  • I understand that I must participate in the King Collegiate Academy Summer Bridge program and that I must arrange my own transportation (July 20, 2026 - 31, 2026).  If I do not attend, I understand that my admission will be revoked and I must enroll in my zoned campus.

  • I understand that I will have the full college experience while at King Collegiate Academy, including walking to and from various buildings, and that I should always be prepared for the possibility of rain by carrying an umbrella.

  • I understand that if I withdraw from King Collegiate Academy, I will not be able to re-enroll at a later date.

  • I understand that King Collegiate Academy requires 8 hours of community service each grading period and that it will be part of my average in Path College Career I-IV.

Parent/Guardian Assurances       

  • I understand that my student must be fully committed to King Collegiate Academy 9th - 12th grade. I will communicate with the school if my student is struggling and will support all interventions to help my student succeed.  If at the end of the first year I feel that my student is unable to continue, I will meet with the school to discuss options.
  • I will ensure that my student attends school every day, arrives on time, remains at school until dismissal, and that we will schedule non-school appointments involving my student during after school hours when possible.
  • I will review the syllabus for each high school and college course with my student.
  • I understand that homework will be assigned on a regular basis and will help ensure that it is completed and submitted on time. 
  • I will provide a space at home for my student to do homework that is free from distractions.
  • I will review my student’s grades in high school and college classes at least once per week.
  • I will encourage/help my student to seek academic assistance if he/she is experiencing difficulty in any class.
  • I will ensure that my student attends after school tutorials when required by teachers and/or administrators.
  • I will attend any required parent/teacher conferences and will communicate with teachers and staff as needed.
  • I understand that King Collegiate Academy does not participate in UIL fine arts or athletic activities, including sports, cheerleading, band, etc.  King Collegiate Academy does, however, participate in UIL academic events.
  • I will stay informed about any King Collegiate Academy activities by reading all information that is sent home.
  • I will communicate with the school any problems that could affect my student’s performance or behavior.
